Our Flash Drive turned in the best performance of her career in the $175,000 Bessarabian S. (G2) on Nov. 12 at Woodbine, rolling to a 5 ¾-length win to give the Live Oak Plantation homebred her third career stakes win.
The 4-year-old filly got a perfect ride from Patrick Husbands. She sat behind a quartet of horses vying for the lead on the backstretch, then went four-wide on the turn to make her move for the lead. Coming into the stretch, she swept past the leaders easily and pulled away with complete authority to finish the seven furlongs in 1:20.76, less than a second off the track record, to earn a career-best Beyer Speed Figure of 99.
“I was getting the perfect trip down the backside, trying to find out where Ortiz [jockey, Jose, aboard Artie’s Princess] was,” said Husbands. “I just tipped out at the top of the lane. Actually, she ran a winning race last time [a close second in the Oct. 22 Ontario Matron].”
Winner of both the Selene S. (G3) and Ontario Colleen S. (G3) last year, Our Flash Drive is now 5-3-1 in 14 starts and has earned $456,960. The 4-year-old is trained by Mark Casse.
