Speight Swiftly, a full brother to graded stakes winner Speightster, turned in a sparkling effort over the Churchill Downs turf on Wednesday, winning by five lengths in front-running style.
The Live Oak Plantation colt covered the one-mile in 1:35.74 on the firm lawn, drawing off in the stretch after maintaining a one-length lead for the first six furlongs (VIDEO).
Bred by WinStar Farm, the 4-year-old is out of Dance Swiftly, who is also the dam of stakes winners West Coast Swing and Paiota Falls, in addtion to Speightster.
Dance Swiftly is a full sister to three-time Canadian champion and Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1) winner Dance Smartly, with other siblings including Grade 1 winners Smart Strike and Full of Wonder and Grade 2 winner Strike Smartly.
With his debut maiden win at Gulfstream Park in March, Speight Swiftly is now 2-for-2 and has earned $53,400.
