Souper Hoity Toity scored a half-length victory in Sunday’s $125,000 Ontario Damsel S., the third stakes win of the year for the Live Oak Plantation colorbearer.
Ridden by her regular jockey Patrick Husbands, Super Hoity Toity was about 10 lengths behind Crystal Ship, who ran off to a sizeable lead in the first half-mile, in the early stages. The field began to close in on the pacesetter entering the final turn, with Super Hoity Toity still needing to make up four lengths at the top of the stretch.
The bay filly found her best stride in the final furlong, with Husbands timing her move perfectly as she took the lead in deep stretch while not being asked for her best. She stopped the timer in 1:43.44 for the 1 1/16-miles.
“I put her in the clear at the three-eighths pole, and she flattened out for me. She’s all class and she likes to win,” said Husbands in the winner’s circle.
Super Hoity Toity won the Ontario Colleen S. and Selene S., both Grade 3 races, earlier this year, and is now 5-1-0 in eight lifetime starts, with earnings of $287,436.
