Mischief in Motion takes Laurel’s All Along S. in front-running style

Mischief in Motion sprinted away from the field at the top of the stretch then held off the late charge of Awesome Czech to win Saturday’s $100,000 All Along S. at Laurel Park by a half-length.

The 4-year-old Live Oak Plantation-owned filly by Into Mischief is now a two-time stakes winner, having captured the Christiana S. at Delaware Park a year ago.

Springing quickly out of the gate under jockey Angel Cruz, Mischief in Motion settled into a very easy rhythm as she guided the field through soft fractions of :49.65 and 1:14.87. She responded with zeal to Cruz’s urging at the top of the stretch and opened up a four-length lead with a furlong to go. She dug in gamely in deep stretch to secure the win over a “good” turf course.

“We got her off the trailer this morning, we gave her a little walk, we gave her a snack, got her ready and brought her over,” said Tana Aubrey, the longtime assistant to trainer Michael Trombetta, of the filly’s trip from Fair Hill to Laurel.

Mischief in Motion is now 4-2-0 in 12 starts and has earned $245,250.
