Souper Forces finishes with flourish to win Red Bank S.

Souper Forces went from fifth to first in the Monmouth Park stretch to win the grassy Red Bank S. by a widening 3 ½-lengths to give the 4-year-old Live Oak Plantation homebred his second career stakes win.

Making just his second start of the year, Souper Forces tracked in fifth for the first five furlongs before commencing his rally. He was five-wide coming into the stretch and stayed well out on the track after straightening for home. He found his best gear in the final furlong, pulling away late for a comfortable win.

“The horse has been doing well,” said trainer MichaelTrombetta. “Obviously I had my worries with the softer turf. I didn’t know how he would do with that. Heading into the first turn I think the rider was just trying to get him comfortable and find the best part of the track. It looked like he settled nicely. I guess (jockey Carlos Marquez) felt like he had plenty of horse when it came time to running and it looks like he did.”

Souper Forces now has four wins and a second in six starts, including a win last year’s Showing Up S. at Gulfstream Park. His earnings stand at $172,550.

Souper Forces is the only named foal out of American Giant, herself a two-time stakes winner who also has two stakes-winning siblings.
