Live Oak Plantation’s Ticker Tape Home had to wait patiently for running room on the far turn of the Seaway Stakes (G3) at Woodbine on Aug. 24, but once the daughter of Medaglia d’Oro found daylight, she drove to the front to record her first graded stakes victory.
Rated in fourth early by jockey Patrick Husbands, Ticker Tape Home was kept along the inside rail in the 11-horse field. With a wall of horses in front of her on the far turn, Husbands awaited an opening before splitting foes in the stretch. Once she was clear, Ticker Tape accelerated gamely and reeled in Gal in a Rush in the final strides to score by a neck. Her final time for the seven furlongs on the all-weather track was 1:23.10.
“The two starts she had over the border (at Gulfstream Park) were sprinting, and she doesn’t really have speed going five-eighths,” said winning rider Patrick Husbands of Ticker Tape Home. “But going six, six and a half, and seven—she’s deadly.”
Trained by Mark Casse, Ticker Tape Home won the Fury Stakes at Woodbine in 2023. Bred in Ontario, Ticker Tape Home is out of the War Front mare Journey Home, a graded stakes winner and multiple graded stakes-placed runner. Ticker Tape Home was a $625,000 purchase at the 2021 Fasig-Tipton New York Saratoga Select Yearling Sale.
