Live Oak Plantation’s Ticker Tape Home left no doubt as to who was the best in Saturday’s $125,000 Fury S. at Woodbine, galloping home by four lengths in the seven-furlong contest for 3-year-old fillies.
The Fury was the first stakes win for the daughter of Medaglia d’Oro, who finished second in last year’s Display S. over the same track and distance.
A good break from the gate put Ticker Tape Home on the lead, and she cruised through the first half-mile in :45.83. She widened her lead on the turn without being asked, and with only slight urging in mid-stretch, she then was geared down late to win in hand in 1:22.15.
“She was really going into this race good,” said winning jockey Patrick Husbands. “She ran a tough race [when beaten four lengths in the Suncoast S.]. Then she came back here, and I got on her about five times, and she came into this race really good.”
Ticker Tape Home, who has now earned $140,794 in eight starts, is the second named foal out of Grade 3 winner Journey Home.
