Live Oak Plantation’s homebred 2-year-old filly Sweet Souper Sweet got her first stakes win Monday in the $75,000 Presque Isle Downs Debutante.
The daughter of First Samurai won the 6 1/2-furlong race on the synthetic surface in come-from-behind fashion, drawing off in the final furlong to win by 2 1/4-lengths in 1:16.37.
Trained by Michael Trombetta, the chestnut filly has won two of her three starts and earned $77,410.
Sweet Souper Sweet is the latest of three foals out of Our Candy Striper, who is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner More Than Regal and black type winner Ready Ruler. Sweet Souper Sweet’s Grade 1-winning second dam Reina Victoriosa (ARG) is a full-sister to the dam of 2006 Horse of the Year Invasor (ARG).
