The 5-year-old Live Oak Plantation homebred put away the multiple graded winner Pink Lloyd in the final furlong, drawing clear with a strong finishing kick to cover the six furlongs in a very quick 1:08.89, less than a second off the track record of 1:08.05 held by Pink Lloyd.
Souper Stonehenge is trained by Mark Casse and now sports a record of 4-4-1 in 15 starts and has banked $271,587.
“I rode him as the best horse in the race,” said winning jockey Patrick Husbands. “Any time you can beat Pink Lloyd at Woodbine Racetrack, especially sprinting, he’s the world beater, he’s the champion here. So I knew it would take a (huge effort) to beat this horse today.”
Souper Stonehenge is out of three-time stakes winner Onepointhreekarats, whose only other foal on record is the stakes winner and Grade 1-placed Tap It to Win. Onepointhreekarats has a trio of stakes-winning siblings and her dam Beaties for Real is a sister to the memorable Grade 2 winner Ivanavinalot.
