Live Oak Plantation’s Souper Colossal made his turf debut a winning one in Saturday’s $75,000 Texas Glitter S. at Gulfstream Park, also the first start of 2015 for the 3-year-old War Front colt.
Sent off the even-money favorite in the five furlong contest, Souper Colossal sat a couple lengths off a torrid pace of :21.43 for the first quarter mile. Making a bold move three-wide on the turn, Souper Colossal swept to the lead and turned away an inside bid by Moon River to win by 1 ½-lengths in :55.95 on the firm turf.
Winner of both the Tyro S. and Sapling S. last year at Monmouth Park, Souper Colossal has now won four of five starts and has earned $161,640.
