Live Oak Plantation’s homebred Our Flash Drive cruised to a 1 ¾-length victory in the $150,000 Whimsical S. (G3) May 13 at Woodbine, her first start since winning the Bessarabian S. (G2) in November.
Our Flash Drive, in post three, broke alertly and sat just behind the leaders as the field made its way down the backstretch. On the turn, Our Flash Drive eased out into the three path and steadily gained ground until she was on even terms for the lead at the top of the stretch. Without being seriously urged, she cleared away from the field and was not seriously threatened the rest of the way.
The final time for the six furlongs was 1:10.12.
“Anything you want her to do, she’ll do,” said winning rider Patrick Husbands. “She broke sharp and I was just behind the speed, and I didn’t want the speed to come back and get stopped behind it. So, by the three-eighths pole, I tipped her out into the clear and she got the job done.”
Trained by Mark Casse, 5-year-old Our Flash Drive has five career stakes wins, four of them in graded company, while compiling a record of 6-3-1 from 15 starts and earning $523,344.
