Live Oak Plantation's homebred 2-year-old filly Victory to Victory is a maiden no longer after a rousing triumph in the $253,400 Natalma S. (G1) Sept. 18 at Woodbine.

Fifth in a 5 1/2-furlong turf sprint in her Aug. 12 debut at Saratoga, tuned up for the Natalma in a seven furlong turf allowance Aug. 27 at Woodbine, when she was a fast-charging second to Tapa Tapa Tapa, who was in the Natalma field as well.

After breaking very alertly, Victory to Victory settled nicely and took up a spot three wide and about three lengths off the lead for the backstretch run. Jockey Florent Geroux waited until the top of the stretch to call on his filly, going five-wide turning for home.

Victory to Victory struck the front soon after, then turned back the challenge of Stormy Perfection to win going away by 2 1/2-lengths in 1:35.24 for the mile on the firm turf.

“She broke very sharply from the gate,” said Geroux. “From there, we got a nice position without taking any bumping or anything. Turning for home she gave me a very nice kick.”

Trained by Mark Casse, Victory to Victory picked up $113,520 for the win and upped her earnings to $127,468.

Pedigree notes from TDN

Live Oak Plantation purchased the winner's dam Points of Grace for $170,000 as a yearling at the Fasig-Tipton August sale. She went on to win the 2009 GII Dance Smartly S., that year's Sovereign Award as Canada's best grass mare and earn over a half-million dollars. Victory to Victory is the mare's third and most recent foal. Points of Grace was sold for $30,000 at last year's Keeneland November sale after failing to get in foal to Into Mischief, and she was most recently bred to Amira's Prince (Ire). Victory to Victory also hails from the family of Group 1 winner Favourable Terms (GB).
