Live Oak Plantation’s homebred Slew’s Exchange took charge turning for home before pulling away to a 1 3/4-length score in the $60,000 Klassy Briefcase S. at Monmouth Park on Sunday. The victory was the first black-type win for the 4-year-old filly, who went off the 9-5 favorite.

Slew's Exchange was right on the heels of pacesetter Krusin Kelly for the first three furlongs, then kicked on at the top of the lane to get clear. Ridden by Elvis Trujillo, Slew’s Exchange stepped the 5 ½ furlongs over “good” turf in 1:03.50.

“We wanted to get her black type and I’m thrilled she was able to do that today,” said winning trainer Eddie Plesa Jr. “She tries so hard every time and today everything worked out right. We’ll find another race like this one. She’s a specialist at sprinting on the turf.”

A 4-year-old by Exchange Rate from the Seattle Slew mare Cool Slew, Slew’s Exchange has won 5 of her 12 outings. She has now banked $188,317 for her connections.

Slew's Exchange is a half-sister to Grey Breeders' Cup S. (G3) winner Globetrotter, who was also second in the Grade 1 Charlie Whittingham H. at Hollywood Park.
