March to the Arch showed his class in the Niagara S. Sunday at Woodbine, coming from some 10 lengths off the pace with three furlongs to run to win going away by 4 1/2-lengths.

The Live Oak Plantation homebred now has six career stakes wins, including the Wise Dan S. (G2) and King Edward S. (G2), and has earned $921,659.

The six-year-old son of Arch does his best running from off the pace, and did so Sunday under a great ride by Patrick Husbands. Admiralty Pier and Primo Touch drew well away from the field in the first half-mile, opening a double-digit lead. The blistering pace of 1:07.35 began to take its toll on the turn, and March to the Arch rolled to the lead soon after straightening for home. He drew off late to get the “about” 1 1/8-miles in 1:45.14 on the good turf.

“He’s classy. Everybody would like to ride a horse like him,” said Husbands. “He’s got a serious, serious turn of foot.” 

March to the Arch is out of Daveron (GER), herself a Grade 2 winner at six and the dam of the 2019 Canadian champion 3-year-old Global Access.
