Live Oak Plantation's homebred March to the Arch came from last at the halfway point of the $175,000 King Edward S. (G2) to win the one-mile turf event by 2 1/4-lengths over Admiralty Pier.

The victory was the second Grade 2 win, and fifth stakes victory overall, for the 5-year-old son of Arch. Out of Live Oak's multiple graded stakes-winning mare Daveron (GER), March to the Arch is a half-brother to Global Access, last year's champion 3-year-old male in Canada.

March to the Arch showed the same closing kick Saturday that he had in his previous stakes wins. Content to trail the eight-horse field through a half-mile in :46.23, the bay began to make up ground along the inside on the turn, then switched three-wide in mid-stretch. He collared Admiralty Pier in the final sixteenth and won going away in 1:32.28 on the firm turf, earning a 101 Beyer Speed Figure.

“It is [good to see him get a graded stakes win], he's such a lovely little horse, he tries every time. He's just really special,” said Kathryn Sullivan, assistant to winning trainer Mark Casse.

With the victory, March to the Arch upped his record to 7-2-3 from 23 starts and his earnings to $698,238.
