Holding Gold held firm in the final furlong of the $100,000 Quick Call S. on Aug. 4 at Saratoga, besting Commend by a head in a driving finish for the first stakes victory for the 3-year-old Live Oak Plantation homebred.

In a good spot on the outside after the break, Holding Gold loomed large at the top of the stretch, passing Too Discreet, with Commend bearing down on his outside. The latter two fought it out to the wire, with Holding Gold going the best at the end to get the five furlongs on the firm turf in 1:01.84.

Holding Gold, a son of Lonhro (AUS) out of Gazelle S. (G1) and Beaumont S. (G2) winner In the Gold, is now 3-2-0 in six starts with earnings of $148,512.
