Global Access and Good Governance battled side-by-side through the final furlong of Saturday's $200,000 Saranac S. (G3) at Saratoga, with Global Access winning the duel by a neck to give the Live Oak Plantation homebred his second graded stakes win of his career.

The 3-year-old won Woodbine's Marine S. (G3) in May and also took the Sophomore Turf S. at Tampa Bay Downs in March and is now 4-1-4 in 11 starts and has earned $316,742.

With his three white socks and distinct blaze, the chestnut is not hard to find at any point in the race. Near or at the back of the five-horse field for the first six furlongs, Global Access made a four-wide move on the final bend to set the stage for the thrilling finish. Good Governance, the odds-on favorite got first jump, but Global Access was moving best of all at the end and stopped the timer in 1:41.80 for the 1 1/16-miles on the firm turf.

"He did real well at Woodbine and did good in Tampa and he's come here and has done well,” said trainer Michael Trombetta. “He shows up every time and does well. I don't think this horse has any distance limitations. He always finishes up with good energy and gallops out strong. If I get the opportunity to try him farther, I certainly will."

Pedigree notes from the TDN

Global Access' gual graded winner and Grade I-placed dam Daveron (Ger), a $750,000 Keeneland November purchase by Live Oak Plantation in 2011, is responsible for seven foals, including three winners, including graded winner March to the Arch (Arch). Subsequent to Global Access, Daveron produced a filly by Tiznow in 2017 (Pretty and Fast) and a colt by Kitten's Joy last season. After producing a filly by Quality Road earlier this term, the 14-year-old mare was bred back to Uncle Mo. Daveron's dam, Darwinia (Ger), is a full-sister to Group 3 scorer Dalicia (Ger), the dam of champion sophomore colt and GI Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom.
