Live Oak Plantation homebred Forever Souper scored a popular front-running, 4 ¾-length victory in Sunday’s $100,000 Prince George’s County S. at Laurel Park.

The 5 year-old is now a three-time stakes winner of $352,255.

Forever Souper was sent right to the lead in Sunday’s 1 1/8-mile turf event. He controlled the first half-mile, which went in 48 seconds flat, with Grade 1 winner Highland Chief (IRE) two lengths back. Forever Souper held that margin around the final turn and into the stretch, then opened up late to win eased up in 1:46.27, less than a second off the track record.

“This horse has just done so good for us,” winning trainer Michael Trombetta said. “We had him last summer at Monmouth, he won a few races. Then we went to South Florida and he won a few stakes down there. He’s just held his form so good. He’s had a couple of races where he didn’t have the best of racing luck, but other than that he’s about as genuine as could be.”

Forever Souper, a son of American Pharoah, is the most accomplished of three foals to race out of Mighty Souper, a twice stakes-placed daughter of War Front. This is also the family of four-time Grade 1 winner Lakeway.
